about

A song actually written while sitting on a bench in a park. I think I brought my guitar along, and I want to say this was done at the Erlandson Nature Center in Coon Rapids, MN. It was a song writeen for an unrequited crush. What dates it as a young song is the fact that it talks about "being friends" which was the absolute worst thing someone that you wanted a relationship could say to you.

This is some of the best sounding acoustic guitar I've recorded. I used two microphones to get a stereo image, an AKG100S and an MXL large diaphram condensor and panned them extreme left and right. The acostic is the Yamaha parlor. The electric is the Grote Jazz guitar run into the Boss sythesizer pedal and then into a DigiTech Polara Reverb pedal set on the backwards setting and then into a tc electronic Hall of Fame Reverb set on a shimmer setting.

lyrics

SITTING ON A BENCH IN A PARK.
YOU KNOW I ALWAYS THINK OF YOU
YOUR LIFE HAS LEFT IT'S MARK
ALTHOUGH I KNOW WE'RE THROUGH
BEING FRIENDS ONLY MAKES ME SAD
I THINK OF ALL THE THINGS THAT I COULD HAVE HAD
HAD YOU STAYED WITH ME

WAITING FOR THE DYING SUN
TO SINK OUT OF THE SKY
MY LOVE FOR YOU HAS BEEN UNDONE
AND I HARDLY KNOW WHY
BEING FRIENDS ONLY MAKES ME SAD
I THINK OF ALL THE THINGS THAT I COULD HAVE HAD
HAD YOU STAYED WITH ME
