I heard the phrase that "hate is not a family value" and ran with it. And honestly, I feel that right wing philosophies are by and large fueled by hatred. Hatred of the "other," whether they be foreigners, different races, different religions, and those who identify with a sexual identity other than the "traditional" heterosexuality.

It's gotten far worse, and this song is more relevant to day than when I wrote it 20 years ago. This was a staple of my live set when I was playing with a band.
