I remember watching a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation of ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT starring Richard Thomas. I knew virtually nothing about World War I at the time, and found the film fascinating. I then read the book several times. It left an impression. I was also heavily into Al Stewart during this time and esepecially liking his historical songs such as "Manuscript" and "Roads to Moscow." I tried writing in that vein. It's actually two little songs, the first one about how the German soldiers must have longed for things to end, one way or another.

The guitars I used on this are the Aria, Fender 12-string, I believe my Squier Hello Kitty Strat. The amplifier is a Blackstar ID Core 40, the only time I used that amp for this recording.
