I never owned a car in high school. But many of my friends did. If you had the use of a car, or actually owned one, it created so much freedom. I remember friends of mine with beat up old automobiles who would loving repair what they could, fix rusted out areas with Bondo. Through High School I drove the "good" car when I had to - a 1972 Dodge Demon. So, I decided to write about the car I never owned, but some of my friends did. The "drop the transmission" line was something I heard at school. I wanted to work it into a song, and I did. This has to be from around 1980, as I wrote it on my Ovation Viper electric.

Guitars used for this are my Eastwood Airlind Jupiter for the rhythm, Charvel So Cal for the "car noises" and solo, and a small Yamaha Parlor guitar for acoustic.
